Ours is an active church. Whether you want to broaden your knowledge and deepen your faith, serve others in our local community or in the wider world, give or receive care for personal struggles, or make music by yourself or with others, you can find activities of our church that allow you to work on those goals. Your personal efforts, added to those of others in our church and around the world, can achieve miraculous things!
Winter Nights Rotating Family Shelter
WCUMC will host Winter Nights in October this year, October 14 – 28, 2024.
Local faith communities host families in need who move every two weeks between locations. They provide a warm, bright, inviting environment for families with children. Large tents, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, bed linens, and towels are supplied. “The tents offer families privacy. They zip shut and clients can safely keep their personal belongings in the tent when they are out during the day.”
Our WCUMC volunteers provide meals for one week, with a few co-host congregations taking care of the second week if needed.
Over the years our Extended Family has provided furnishings and household goods for approximately 30-35 Winter Nights family units. Our loving kindness never ceases.
For more information on how you can help please contact Judith Hall (contact info in Church Directory and through Church Office). A detailed history of WCUMC’s commitment and actions is available on the Usher station in the Narthex or here.
“For I was hungry and you fed me…I was a stranger and you welcomed me…” from Matthew 25:35-36
