Bead and a Prayer
We are a fellowship, prayer, and study group. We share joys and concerns with each other. We follow the spiritual practice of praying with Protestant Prayer Beads as part of our session. We study various books on spiritual and practical matters. If you do not have prayer beads, we can supply you with some and/or teach you how to make your own. A Bead and a Prayer currently meets Fridays via Zoom from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
Boomers
Boomers is a social group meeting the 3rd Saturday of the month for dinner. Despite its name representing a particular age group, we welcome everyone to attend. Members of the group rotate opening their home for the gathering. The host usually provides the main entrée, the rest is potluck provided by those attending. We look forward to having you join us!
Wednesday Work Crew
We have inspected, maintained, landscaped and cleaned up the church property since the church moved to its Sunnyvale Avenue location, in about 1953. A half dozen or so mostly-retired men and women gather on Wednesday mornings to take care of things around the church, eat and enjoy each others’ company. Anyone can join in the fun, and find out what really goes on around the property.
Men’s Breakfast
For nearly 15 years, several men in the church have assembled to cook and serve a breakfast on the first Sunday of each month in the Social Hall before Sunday morning worship. A full breakfast is served to all who show up between 8:15 and 9:00 a.m. Free will donations are accepted. Whatever “profit” is in the basket at the end is used for church purposes – many times for kitchen improvements and accessories, as well as any equipment needed by the Wednesday Work Crew. You can join in by joining us for breakfast, or helping to cook and serve.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry consists of a small group of knitters and crocheters who make prayer shawls for others. We lovingly create them for those who are going through a difficult time or celebrating a joy. It is our way of sharing God’s love. Besides prayer shawls, we also make baby blankets, scarves and other smaller items. As we knit and crochet, we help each other, share stories, laugh, and pray together. We meet the second Sunday of each month in the library. We welcome new members and will help you get started! We Teach! You may drop in, anytime between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Feel free to bring your lunch, along with suggestions of people who could use some extra love.
