Dear Friends:
It has come to our attention that a person attending our worship service this past Sunday has tested positive for COVID-19. We only recently received this information, and out of an
abundance of caution, we are informing you of this situation. We have reported this infection to the Contra Costa Health Services, and we are employing best practices as recommended to us by the county and state to address this situation.
Based on the current information, we do not believe you were exposed to COVID-19. We have contacted those persons sitting nearby our COVID-positive person, and unless you receive further information, we do not believe you need to quarantine at his time. If you decide to be tested for COVID, it is suggested you wait 5-7 days from the initial exposure of Sunday, January 9 th (unless you experience symptoms earlier). Please monitor yourself for any COVID symptoms.
If at any time this information changes, we will notify you immediately.
As we move forward, we will continue to emphasize certain COVID protocols to keep us all as
safe as possible. These include wearing a mask at all times while you are in the church building, practicing good social distancing, and making sure that you are properly vaccinated as you worship with us.
Finally, I want to say that the Walnut Creek United Methodist Church prides itself on living
Love out in the world. This first happens in this holy place we call our sanctuary. With that in
mind, if you are sick, please stay home! We have worked hard to provide our livestream service for those who cannot be present for worship. We of course will miss you but do what is right and be safe for yourself and our congregation.
Blessings,
The Rev. Colin Kerr-Carpenter
Pastor, The Walnut Creek United Methodist Church
