An Update from Pastor Colin
Blessings my friends! We are almost done with our first week of being sheltered in place and
despite some inconveniences we all share, I’m hoping you are coping and staying safe.
I write to you today with some church updates…
- Communication. Most of you receive our church communication through electronic means. WCUMC has a three-prong approach in the way we electronically communicate : Our website (www.walnutcreekumc.org), email, and Facebook. On Friday, we had a major website failure. It is still online but we cannot update it. You are still able to make contributions online through our secure giving site. Please be assured we are working hard to fix the problem.
- Worship. For those of you that do Facebook, I was able to give my sermon through Facebook Live. As of this morning, I saw we had over 200 views! That’s way more than we have in worship attendance on most Sundays! But the downside is not everyone uses Facebook. In the weeks ahead, we will continue to find the most optimal way to bring a worship experience to you. Stay tuned!
- Care Groups. In my sermon yesterday, I mentioned we are working on forming groups within our church for the purpose of basic caring and communication with our congregation. We especially want to make sure your physical, social, and spiritual needs are being addressed during our shelter-in-place order. In the next few days, you will receive a call from a Care Group Leader to initially check in with you. If there is any need we might address, then that information will be passed to one of our staff who will be managing our Care Group Leaders. We hope you will find this helpful in getting through these most trying times and to be in communication with your church.
As I walk through these strange times, I am encouraged by your kind emails and phone calls. I am so proud to serve a congregation that cares for one another and lives in the way Jesus calls us. Until the next time!
Blessings…
