On February 9th , Contra Costa County, along with several other Bay area counties, lifted the
mask mandate for most businesses. This new order also includes places of worship. The order states quite clearly that for those places in which masks are no longer needed, unvaccinated people are still required to wear masks. This includes children ages 2 and over.
What does this mean for the Walnut Creek United Methodist Church? Since the new county
order was put into effect, we as leadership of your church have recommended wearing masks while in worship. Since the numbers of infections continue to drastically decline in our county, it has been determined that mask wearing should be optional in worship with the exceptions stated above.
Our utmost responsibility is to care for all the members of our church community. We feel
strongly that our new adjustment in mask wearing is warranted considering the current
information we have from our state and county authorities.
