How We Serve
At Walnut Creek United Methodist Church we offer many opportunities for your spiritual growth and to be in ministry with other.
Small Group Studies
Small Groups are one of the primary ways we can experience community outside of the Sunday morning worship service. For the season of Lent we will be forming several small groups to come together in community and worshipping God. To view the different options and to sign up, click here.
On the second Sunday of the month, we gather to knit our prayers into shawls, blankets, and other gifts. At one moment we are praying for someone celebrating the birth of a new child and the next we are praying for a person recovering from a recent surgery. The end result are gifts full of prayer that we can give. The group is open to all levels and is a time of both spiritual growth and fellowship. To find out more, please call the church office or email.
“Being a Stephen Minister is the answer to how to serve God’s people. It has given me skills that I use everyday in my work and in my personal relationships, besides enabling me to be Christ to another as their Stephen Minister.” – Linda
Are you going through a Difficult Time?
Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support to people who are facing a crisis or going through difficult times. The care you’ll receive is confidential, free, and very helpful.
Stephen Ministers Care!
Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who receive special training to provide one-to-one Christian care to people in our congregation and community who are experiencing grief, loneliness, divorce, hospitalization, disability, job loss, and many other life difficulties.
The PBS “Religion and Ethics” news show recently aired an eight-minute feature on Stephen Ministry that vividly describes the life-changing ministry happening in thousands of congregations.
